Ch. Orrkid's Handful of Stars
(Ch. Mystery's Show BIS, SOM ex Bal d' Orr's Skirt)

Sonny was one of three puppies I received
from a co-owned/co-bred litter. He and his two litter sisters (Sophie &
Sal) made their first trip to a dog show around 12 weeks of age. We
traveled to a regional in Denver in a friend's motor home. She also had a
puppy about the same age and we had great fun.
Sonny loved going to the dog shows,
however, once we walked through the ring entrance, he was not a show dog.
He seemed to win classes (with me handling him) in spite of his attitude.
He did take a while to finish but finally got that coveted title of champion.
Along the way, he managed to get a BOB over specials. At a show in South Dakota,
our son showed Sonny and won Winners Dog - I had won Winners Bitch with Dot and
went on to BOB with Dot that day.
He was a sweet dog and loved nothing better than to be a couch potato. He was my puppy sitter.
He would play very gently with puppies and let them bite him everywhere. He and his son, Beau, never had a cross word and never had a fight.
Even when we had a bitch in season, they would curl up and sleep together. He was such a gentle soul.
My mother-in-law liked him best of all of our dogs because he was so gentle.
He developed nerve degeneration in his rear
(most likely degenerative myelopathy) as he grew older.
When he was a little over 10 years of age, the degeneration rapidly took away his ability to get around.
When he could no longer push his body up off of the floor, we helped him to the bridge so he could run and play again.
